Installing Optional MP3 Recording Components (Windows)

In order to assure that your podcast has the highest quality possible, please take a moment before downloading your ePodcast Series software to install the LAME encoder.

You'll want to encode MP3 files at more than 56 kbps, which requires either the Fraunhofer Professional codec or the LAME encoder. Learn more about the Fraunhofer Professional codec.

Note: The LAME encoder is a FREE software program and need only be installed once.

To install the LAME encoder, follow these steps:

  1. Go to: http://www.webhostxpress.net/~mitiok/lame-3.96.1.zip.
  2. Click "Save."
  3. Save the file to a convenient place, such as your Desktop.
  4. Please unzip the file and locate the file named lame_enc.dll.
  5. Copy this file and paste it into your C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder.

You're now ready to download your ePodcast software and begin creating podcasts for Divvycast! When converting files to MP3, always make sure the bit rate is set for 128 kbps for optimum podcast quality.
